Welcome to this blog, a place where hopefully we can share our knowledge, experience and ideas all in the amazing world of silk painting.
In welcoming you to this new blog, I invite you to share your ideas with me and suggestions regarding the commission I am currently working on.
I have be asked to paint a necktie with the colors on this banner and to include some Disney characters. The Mickey globes and ears are no problem- but I am wondering how best to make the shadows in the background. Shadows such as the alien from Toy Story, etc?
Currently I have two ideas, one being to use resist to outline the shadows, the other being to use wax. Not being very experienced with wax I wonder it that would work. I also don't know if I really want the lines of the resist? Perhaps I should use clear resist?
Ideas, suggestions . . ?
Thanks!
Hello! I really like this idea of "shadows in the background"! Did you considered using some mediums? I have an Aquarellgrund from Javana and it supposed to make it possible to paint on silk without gutta (effect promised: just like watercolor paper) You put it on the part of your silk and then paint (it's white and watery)
ReplyDeletehuh, I just doodled with it so far, but it seems legit! When I use it I will send a link here!
BTW I love the idea of a blog!!
